Distinguished Stetson Alumnus
Studies have shown a direct link between effective Academic Advising
and student retention. The declining student pool underlines the
importance of retention. To that end the Faculty Development Committee is offering a Workshop on Academic Advising on Wednesday,
April 13, from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. (dinner included). Make your
reservation by calling Ext. 210; only a limited number can be
accommodated. Jim DeLap and Bob Fort will be the leaders.

The program entitled "Frontiers '83; Ethics in a Divided World" is
being put in each faculty member's box this week. The dates of the
program are April 15-16. Featured speakers will include Richard A. Falk,
Professor of International Law at Princeton University; Tom J. Farer,
Professor of Law at Rutgers; Michael Manley, former Prime Minister
of Jamaica; Arturo Puente, Mexican Consul; Jeremy Rifkin, Congressional
Consultant on Genetic Engineering; James Watson, Professor of Law at
Mercer; and Dr. J. Philip Wogaman, Dean and Professor of Christian
Social Ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary. We shall be grateful
if you will encourage your students to attend by assigning them to
appropriate sections of the program that may relate to your teaching
responsibility. You and your students are encouraged to participate
in the program.

Please announce to your classes: The well-known poet Robert Bly will
be giving the following presentations next week: Mr. Bly's presentation, "An Evening of Fairy Tales Told with Masks" (with discussion),
will be at 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the Stetson Room of the
Carlton Union Building. On Tuesday evening - same time and place -
he will give a poetry reading and accompany himself on the dulcimer.
Admission: adults $2.00, senior citizens and area students, Stetson
Community I.D. $1.00. In addition, Mr. Bly will conduct a workshop
