The Faculty Senate adopted the following resolution on April 6, 1982. "The Faculty
Senate supports the efforts of the Action Committee on Higher Education to encourage
University personnel to contact their political representatives concerning the budget
cuts in higher education."
The McEniry Award Nominating Committee, a Faculty Senate appointed Committee,is seeking nominations from students and faculty. The Award is for "teaching excellence"
and the recipient receives $1,000 and a wall plaque. The five most recent recipients
are ineligible for a second award (Hague, Colwell, Steeves, Master and Fort).
Nomination forms are available in the offices of the Deans and Department Chairmen
and from committee members (Greek, Hutchings, Jackson and Jusick). Closing date for
nominations is April 15, 1982.
The Professional Development Committee will sponsor a Financial Planning Seminar on
Wednesday, April 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge that will be designed especially to address problems concerning retirement planning, insurance, and investments.
The speaker will be Mrs. Genevieve Evans, Regional Manager of West America Financial
Corp., Deltona, Florida. She will specifically discuss areas of the new tax law
that can be applied to reduce income taxes through many methods, including I.R.A.'s
and the programs offered through Stetson University. No meal is planned in connection
with this event and reservations are not required. If you are unable to attend but
want additional information, contact Dr. Hague at extension 210.
Copies of successfull summer grant proposals are on Faculty Reserve in the DuPont-
Ball Library.
The annual Faculty vs. Lady Hatters Softball Game is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 28. If you are interested in playing, contact Al Wehrle, extension 326,
or Joe Dowdell, extension 270. A practice or two will be scheduled before the game.
