The Board of Directors of the Stetson University Credit Union announces that applications from members for loans for the purchase of new or used automobiles will be
accepted. There are limitations as to the amount of the loan and employment status
of the borrower. All questions should be directed to Credit Union Manager, Geraldine
Simmons at Ext. 412 or during the open hours in the Purchasing Annex 3:00-4:30 p.m.
Tuesdays and Fridays. The 1982 Board includes Ann Morris as President, Ted Beiler
as Vice President, Garth Jenkins as Secretary, Everette Johnson as Treasurer, and
Rob Brady as Member-at-Large.
The Professional Development Committee will sponsor a seminar "How do the Florida
Probate and Guardianship Laws Affect YOUR Family?" on March 2 and March 4, from 3:30
to 5:00 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. The speaker will be Mr. Richard Copeland, faculty
member in the Stetson University School of Business Administration. Mr. Copeland
will address the following questions: 1) If your will is written out of Florida, is
it valid?, 2) What happens to your children if you do not have a will?, 3) What
should you own jointly in your and your spouse's names?, 4) Who receives your estate
if you have no will?, 5) How expensive is probate?, 6) Who can be your executor?,
7) Do you need a trust for your children or do they receive their share at age 18?
Dr. Duncan has appointed an ad hoc committee to study the Reagan administration's
proposed cuts to student financial aid both in the administration's rescissions to
the FY 82 continuing resolution and, more dramatically, in the FY 83 budget. The
committee has been charged with developing an appropriate response for the university
to make. Hall meetings have been scheduled Monday through Wednesday evenings, March
1,2, and 3 in which students will be informed of the proposals which could affect aid
to 46 percent of the Stetson student body. Members of the committee are preparing
information for faculty and students regarding these matters. Dr. T. Wayne Bailey
serves as chairman of the committee. Others serving with him are Dean E. Garth
Jenkins, J. Daniel Moore, Jakay Jarvis Hughey and students Jennie S. Boldish, Anthony
P. Clark, Timothy F. Ireland, James P. Tartarczuk and Bernadette A. Williams.
