The library will be open on Sunday, May 10 from 1 p.m.-l a.m. rather than 8 a.m.-l a.m.
Dr. Ruth Arnold was requested by the Bureau of Education for the Handicapped to speak
at two national meetings. She spoke on "Language Problems of Adolescents with Learning
Disabilities" at the BEH Colorado State University's National Conference on Secondary
Education of the Handicapped at Estes Park, Colorado. At the April meeting of LINC in
San Francisco she spoke on "Print and Media Grant Products." Dr. Arnold has also held
several workshops in learning disabilities for county teachers.
Donald W. Musser, Department of Religion, addressed the Florida Region Disciples of
Christ Clergy in Ocala on April 21 on the subject: A Theological Reflection on the
Electronic Church. ^
Dr., Jesse Ii. Berry has been chosen as a participant in the National Endowment for the
Humanities Summer Seminar program. The seminar on "Literature of the Weimar Republic"
will be held at the University of California, Irvine, and directed by Professor Herbert
Lehnert.
Kemper Smith, Director of Residential Life, Student Affairs, had a paper entitled
Practical Strategies for Impacting Energy Usage presented at the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers in early Spring. Inflate March, Mr. Smith attended the
annual American College Personnel Association's convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr.
Smith chairs the national Task Force on Territoriality (Environmental Management), and
presided over a panel of members in presenting a mileu management workshop package plus
previewing data from a national research project that the task force recently concluded.
The deadlines for ordering films for the 1981-82 academic year are as follows:
Summer School: May 11, 1981 Winter Term: October 20, 1981
Fall Semester: July 20, 1981 Spring Semester: December 10, 1981
Professor B.A. Fusaro of Salisbury State College will be talking on "Environmental
Mathematics" in Elizabeth Hall, Room 204 on Tuesday, April 28 at 9:25 a.m. Dr. Fusaro
is currently working with Professor Odum at the University of Florida on environmental
problems. Computer simulation will be discussed. All are welcome.
Mr., Mark Aulick, Duke University, will speak Tuesday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 205E.
His topic will be "Numerical Techniques for Inverse Problems." Mr. Aulick is a Stetson
graduate. He earned a Masters of Science degree from Florida State University and is
currently completing his work for the Ph.D. degree from Duke.
The annual Women's Intercollegiate Softball Team vs. Faculty game will be played Thursday,
May 7, at 5:00 p.m. Contact Al Wehrle, ext 326, or Joe Dowdell, ext 270, if you are
interested in playing. We will try to schedule a couple of practices, so please contact
us as soon as possible.
The Leadership Dinner sponsored by Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa will be held
at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, in the Stetson Room of the CUB. Dr. Phillip L. Parr
'59 will be the speaker. All faculty and staff members are welcome to attend—$5.00
per person. For reservations, please call ext 213 by Monday, April 27—payment to be
made at the door.
