At the Faculty Senate Meeting of March 3, 1980, Dr. Keith Hansen, Chairman
of the Earth Day - 10 years After Committee, spoke to the group about the
Committee's plans for observance of Earth Day *80. Following his presentation, the Senate adopted the following resolution:
The Senate encourages the General Faculty to cooperate
with the University's observation of Earth Day '80 on
April 22, 1980, and with the planned events leading up
to it. Additionally, the Senate encourages each academic
department to comply with the Earth Day - 10 years After
Committee's forthcoming request to appoint an individual
to serve as liason officer with the Committee.
The Earth Day — 10 Years After Committee is requesting the cooperation
of the faculty in establishing a contact person in each department to
receive and disseminate information concerning the program, as we move
into the last phase of the Countdown to April 22. This person would
also forward suggestions from members of the department to the committee
in an effort to make a good program even better. Please advise the
name of the contact person as soon as possible by calling or dropping a
note to Dr. Keith Hansen, chairman of the committee (Box 1265/ext. 235)
or Dorie Rockefeller (Box 1319/ext. 340).
Others on the committee are: Dr. Bruce Bradford, the Rev. Tom Cunningham,
Dr. Harry Garber, Dr. Bryan Gillespie, Dr. Earl Joiner, Dr. Neal Long,
and Dr. John Schorr.
