Book returns are now being processed from books on hand from last Fall
and Winter. Professors will be notified before any books are returned.
Dr. Jesse L. Berry's report on the seminar sponsored by the German Ful-
bright Commission appeared in the recent number of Die Unterrichtspraxis,
the national pedagogical journal of the American Association of Teachers
of German. The title of the report was: Sommer Seminar "Deutsche Land-
eskunde" fur amerikanische Hochschullehrer.
The Military Science Department has been asked to help in fulfilling the
Department of Defense (DOD) responsibility of informing the public about
DOD policies on national security issues and its many activities around
the world. Senior DOD speakers are available for forms among audiences
in and around the academic community—to include students, faculty, community organizations, local news media. If you are planning something
along these lines for SY 79-80 the Military Science Department can assist
you in obtaining DOD speakers. Contact CPT Leo P. LaFrance, ext. 333 for
information and assistance.
Dr. Arnold attended a meeting in Portland, Maine, of the National Inservice
Network which was sponsored by The Bureau of Education For The Handicapped.
William Hugh McEniry Award for Teaching Excellence - Each year at Spring
graduation, an outstanding teacher on the DeLand campus, selected by the
Faculty Senate will be recognized by the McEniry Award for Teaching Excellence. Guidelines for selecting a winner will include: 1) Excellence
in classroom teaching. 2) Intellectual growth and professional competency
as reflected in writing and scholarly publications. 3) Intellectual
stimulation given to the academic community outside the classroom.
4) Service to the students and to the University as a whole.

Kemper Smith and Mary-Edna Walls of the Residential Life Department in
Student Affairs attended the annual conference of the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers February 13-16 at the University of Tennessee in
Knoxville. Smith presented a paper with directors from Mars Hill and
Shennandoah Colleges on "Small College Housing Management" at this conference.
Jayne Marlowe, Director of Student Life in the Division of Student Affairs,
attended the annual Leadership Academy of the Southeastern Interfraternity
Conference in Atlanta February 16-17 and the annual convention of the
Southeastern PanHellenic Conference at the University of Alabama in
Tuscaloosa February 23-25. Both programs featured students, volunteer
advisers, national organization staff, and student affairs advisers.
