Faculty and staff members who wish to rent academic regalia for the inauguration of
President Duncan should immediately contact the Bookstore. Deadline is February 17.
The Stetson University Military Science Department will conduct its Annual Field Training
Encampment at Fort Stewart, Georgia from noon Thursday, March 2, through Sunday,
March 5. A list of participating students will be submitted by March 1.
Professor Fred Messersrnith was the recipient of the J. W. Dyches Award of $400. 00 in
Painting at the 15th Annual Major Artists Show held at the Harmon Gallery, Naples, Florida,
January 15 through 28.
Dr. Paul Steeves read his paper entitled "Soviet Baptists and World War II" at the conference
of the Florida College Teachers of History, February 4.
Stetson University Artists and Lecturers Committee will present the Concord String Quartet,
recording artists and artists-in-residence at Dartmouth College on Wednesday, February 15th
at 8:30 P.M. in Elizabeth Hall. A reception will follow in Presser Hall. Quartets of Mozart,
Webern and Schubert will be heard.
A film festival about Renaissance Florence will be held on February 13, 14, and 15 (Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday) at 6:30 P.M. in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Building of
Stetson University. Three splendid films made by Roberto Rossellini, the great Italian
director, about the Medici family in 15th century Florence will be presented under the
sponsorship of the Department of History. Each segment of the film trilogy is 84 minutes long
and has English dialogue. Please note that these showings are scheduled on Stetson campus
activities sheets as being shown at 7:00 P.M. However, they have been moved forward to
6:30 P. M. because of a basketball game at 8:00 P. M. on Monday, a piano recital at 8:00 P. M.
on Tuesday, and a string quartet program at 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday. The general public
as well as the Stetson community are invited to these free films.
