The following students will be attending a Debate or Forensics Tournament this week-end at
Nashville, Tenn. They will be absent from classes on January 12 and 13th. Michele Miles,
Cheri Varnadoe, Diane Patrick, Ellen Covert, Jack Pelzer, Jim McCarty, Jeff Crowe, Joel
Plough, Brad Berko.
A REMINDER: Please remind students that the AV office does not have films to be loaned for
student use. It is also impossible to loan 16 mm projectors and video tape equipment to students
for private use.
If such equipment is needed by students for classroom presentation please send a signed memo to
Miss Dial in the AV office.
Cassette recorders, screen, a filmstrip projector and slide projector can be rented at the mini-
sub. Students are welcome to use equipment in the AV office if arrangements are made.

TIAA/CREF: You have or will shortly receive a new endorsement form and explanatory letter
if you have retirement contracts with TIAA/CREF. This endorsement relates to the inclusion of
a mandatory survivor annuity option. This material is perhaps self-explanatory, but if it should
cause questions please either contact TIAA, Mrs. Betty Wilkins, Mr. Benge or Mr. Edmondson.
TIAA is requesting that the acknowledgment card be returned promptly to them.
University Automobile: A 1978 Malibu Sedan is available for faculty and staff travel. Reservations may be made with Mr. Becker, Ext. 288. Mileage charge is 15^ per mile.
PLEASE NOTICE: Dr. John P. Newport, who holds the Chavanee Chair of Religious Studies at
Rice University, will give the 1978 lectures on Christian theology. These lectures will be
delivered in Elizabeth Hall, February 8 - February 10 at 10:00 A.M. The theme for the lectures
is "The Occult Challenge to Christianity Today. " Dr. Newport will be available for classroom
visitations during this period and, if you are interested in having him participate in your class
sessions, kindly contact Mr. Granger's office.
The lecture on Thursday, February 9, will necessitate an adjustment in class times as follows:
8:00 A.M. classes will meet from 8:00 to 8:50 A.M.; the 9:25 classes will meet from 9:00 to
9:5 0 A.M.; the 10:50 classes will convene at 11:10 and will terminate at 12:05. There will be
no change in the afternoon schedule.
