Commencement will be held in the Edmunds Center on Sunday, May 20. The
baccalaureate service will be at 8:30 a.m. and the graduation ceremony at
2:00 p.m. The faculty line-of-march will form at 8:00 a.m. and again at
1:30 p.m. in the inside corridor of the west side of the Edmunds Center.
All faculty members are expected to attend, in full academic regalia, unless

The Faculty Senate will meet in the regular session on Tuesday evening,
1 May, at 6:45 in the Faculty Lounge, Carlton Union Building. As this is
the final regular meeting of this academic year, this year's Senate and next
year's Senate (to take office on 1 June) will meet jointly. All present and
future members should be present for important year-ending business and
organizational matters for the coming year.
Dr. William Taylor, Chairman of the English Department, has compiled a new
chapbook of his poems entitled 20 Against Apocalypse, published by the St.
Johns River Press. A number of his poems, articles and books have been
published, including "Verbal Agreement" and "The Resurrection," poems which
appeared in the 1979 winter issue of "National Forum."
PRE-ORIENTATION: The Admissions Office is beginning to plan for the Pre-
Orientation Program which will be held on Saturday, July 21. Faculty members
who serve as advisers to freshmen should remember this date when planning
their summer activities. Any faculty member willing to advise transfer
students who attend the program should contact Mark McMasters, ext. 350.
Comments and ideas about the program are welcome.
Dr. Michael W. Raymond of the English Department organized and chaired the
seminar "The Burden of the Past in the Age of Johnson: Bate, Bloom, and
Other Contexts" for the national meeting of the American Society of Eighteenth-Century Studies held in Atlanta, April 18-21.

Summer Office Hours will start on Monday, May 21. Hours will be as follows:
8:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00 (with one hour for lunch). National holidays:
Memorial Day, Monday, May 28; Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4. Labor
Day again this year coincides with the opening of the fall semester, and
the Memorial Day holiday weekend is scheduled as a substitute for the Labor
