Awards Assembly
Commencement will be held in the Edmunds Center on Sunday, May 20.
The baccalaureate service will be at 8:30 a.m. and the graduation
ceremony at 2:00 p.m. The faculty line-of-march will form at 8:00a.m.
and again at 1:30 p.m. in the inside corridor of the west side of the
Edmunds Center. All faculty members are expected to attend, in full
academic regalia, unless officially excused.

Dr. William Johnson will attend a meeting of the Medieval Institute of
Western Michigan University on May 3-6 in Kalamazoo, where he will read
a paper, "Language and Isolation in the Old English Elegies."
Interested Juniors and Seniors should be aware that competition is now
open for approximately five hundred 1980-81 Fulbright-Hays grants for
graduate study and professional training in fifty countries. Information and application material are obtainable from Dr. E.C. Coolidge,
Room 248, Sage Hall.
Richard A. Ferland has been awarded an N.E.H. grant to participate in
a Summer Seminar at Boston University this summer. The subject of the
seminar is "The Debate over Educational Policy in France between the
World Wars." It will be directed by Professor Fritz K. Ringer of
Boston University.

Attached to the Faculty Bulletin is a roster of members of the Faculty
Senate taking office on June 1, 1979, serving until May 31, 1980. Please
retain this list for your records. Any items of business arising this
summer which you would desire the Senate to consider may be forwarded
to any member or directly to the officers for deliberation by the Executive Committee. The Tenure and Academic Freedom Committee of the
present Senate (Ann Morris, John Hague, Harry Garber) continues to
function through August 31, 1979.
