'There will be an Honors Day on May 10 in Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. This event replaces the
Annual Awards Day Assembly. If you or your organization want to make an award or presentation on that day, kindly submit your request in writing to Dr. Garth Jenkins as soon as

The last regular meeting of the Faculty Senate will be held in the Faculty Lounge (CUB) at 6:45
p. m. Tuesday, May 2. All faculty are invited to this meeting.
Please do not forget to send in your Winter Term course offerings.
Dr. Bruce Bradford presented a paper, "Migration of Factory Workers to Cities in Russia, "
at the national meetings of the Association of American Geographers in New Orleans, April 12.
Gary R. Libby of the Department of Art has been named Chairman of the Latin American and
Caribbean Art History Session at the Southeast College Art Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He will also read a paper entitled "Meaning in the Mexican Muralist Tradition: Mayan Myth
made N«w" in the General Session. An article on American illustrator Mort Kunsther will
appear in the May 1978 Southwest Art Magazine, an article on Contemporary Latin Painting
will appear in June in Southwest Art.
Dr. H. Warren Thwing announces the publication of his new book by Harvest Press, A
Handbook for New Charismatics. A copy has been placed in the Office of the Dean of the College
of Liberail Arts.
fJOHN E. JOHNS AUDIO-VISUAL ROOM: About a month ago, I wrote members of the faculty and
staff who had not contributed to the Johns room to say that we have a matching donor who
promises to match contributions from the faculty and staff. Since that time $400.00 has been
received from faculty and staff. This'includes a $100.00 contribution resulting from the Sigma
Phi Epsilon chariot race (thanks to Fred Cooper). The matching offer dies at the end of this
month. Contributions should be sent to Box 1336, Evans C. Johnson, Chairman, Department
of History. Contributions now total more than $6, 000 toward the $7, 000 goal.

t^t. Gene Medlin has been elected President of People Helping People, Inc. , an organization
designed to provide present and future assistance to worthy organizations and causes in the
West Volusia area. Dr. Gary Maris was elected Vice-President; Dr. Elizabeth Magarian,
Secretary; Jack Mabry, Treasurer; and Dr. Bruce Bradford and Dr. Tony Jusick, Directors.
At its annual meeting on April 19 Dr. Gerald Critoph, retiring President, announced that the
membership had approved a grant of $500 to assist the Evergreen Day School. Anyone wishing
to contribute to this organization or to obtain further information may contact Dr. Medlin in the
Mathematics Department or any of our other officers.
