Gail Kadlec and Gary Meadows will be married on Friday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. The
ceremony will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Deland. All members of the
Stetson Community are invited.
The fifth Annual Model U. S. Senate is drawing near. Beginning March 4, students from all
over the Southeast will participate in the four day program. The sessions will be filled with
party caucuses, committee meetings, and general Senate sessions. Several faculty members
have been invited to testify before the Committees.
The faculty and staff of Stetson are invited to observe all the proceedings. This year will,
without a doubt, be the most exciting. Former Senator Sam Ervin will be the keynote speaker
on Thursday evening, at the First Baptist Church. He is under the sponsorship of the Artists
and Lecturers Committee. On Friday, March 5, Public Service Commissioner Paula Hawkins
will participate along with Arkansas Senator Dale Bumpers, Friday evening. Senator Dick
Stone will be here on Saturday morning for several activities and the afternoon will bring
Tennessee Senator Howard Baker. Saturday evening, Congressman Bill Chappell will speak.
Sunday will be the awards luncheon with Dr. Floyd Riddick, retired Senate Parlimentarian.
He has participated in Model Senate for three years and is always the highlight for everyone.
You will receive an invitation to attend the luncheons and dinners.
According to Suzanne Spencer, Chairman of Model Senate, fourteen students from many
disciplines are serving as Committee Chairmen.
Be watching. This year's Model Senate and Stetson University will be very much in the news.
