Dr. H. Douglas Lee, Vice President for Development, and Dr. Charles C. Shafe,
Executive Director for University Advancement, made a presentation at the
CASE III Conference on January 20, 1980 entitled, "Young Professionals -
Managing Yourself in the Development Operation." The Fund-Raising Institute
has requested permission to publish the presentation in the FRI Monthly Portfolio. Drs. Lee and Shafe have consented. CASE stands for Council for
Advancement and Support of Education and is the professional organization
for university development officers.
The National Opera Company will perform Offenbach's operetta, "La Perichole,"
Tuesday, February 12, at 8 p.m. in Stover Theatre. The doors at Stover Theatre
will be open early for those who have Stetson I.D.'s. After 7:30 p.m. there
will be no guarantee of a seat with the I.D.
Dr. C. Carter Colwell delivered the paper "A response to 'Music and Metaphysics
at the Moment,' by Huntley Beyer" at the conference on aesthetics entitled
"Process Thought, Music, and Poetry," sponsored jointly by the Center for Process Studies and the University of British Columbia, January 25-28 in Vancouver, B.C.

At least two unauthorized used book buyers have visited some faculty offices
in the past week. These buyers are on campus illegally. Please do not give
them any of your books. Instead, refer them to Everette Johnson or Joe Dowdell
and give them a call immediately. The Bookstore will be bringing Nebraska
Book Company back on campus at the end of Spring semester and will be happy
to set up a faculty buy at that time.
In describing the responsibilities of the Dean of the University Article IV
section 4 of the Bylaws of the University state:
"In cooperation with the President, he shall bear the responsibility
