Six new members were inducted this week into Delta Tau Kappa, international honorary society for students of social science. Stetson's chapter for students of sociology
is Gamma Chapter of Florida. Inducted at a banquet in the Carleton Union Building
were Kathy Benedict, Marie Bologna, Randy Griffiths, Christina Kennedy, Sarah
(Mickey) Lanier, and Penny Peterson. Dr. Frank Glamser delivered after dinner
remarks to the present officers, new inductees, and senior sociology majors.
All Department Heads and Budget Supervisors are reminded that it is the firm policy
of the University to accept no responsibility for purchases or commitments made
direct without the issuance of an official purchase order. Invoices for any such
unauthorized purchases are returned to the supplier. This statement is made only
for clarity, and as a reminder as we come to the end of the fiscal year.
Ms. Carolyn Rogers, senior sociology major, has accepted a university fellowship to
further her studies at Brown University. She received other offers and won competitive fellowships from the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Duke
University. Ms. Rogers was a finalist and received honorable mention in competition
for a National Science Foundation grant; only 14 were given nationwide. Mrs. Donna
Medlin, also a senior sociology major, has been accepted for graduate study in social
work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Bookstore will be closed two weeks for inventory, May 12 through May 23, and two
weeks for vacation, May 26 through June 6.

Minnesota Avenue Fire Lane:
The University's fire underwriters are having^us establish a fire lane for the length of
Minnesota Avenue within the campus. This is to be an area of absolutely no parking
and no vehicle is to be left unattended if stopped in this area.
