ANNOUNCEMENTS
THE FACULTY SENATE WILL MEET SEPTEMBER 12, 2005, in the Faculty Lounge in the Carlton Union Building.
Senators and invited guests meet for dinner at 6:00 p.m. The meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. and all faculty
members are encouraged to attend. Faculty Senate meetings for the remainder of the academic year are
scheduled for October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 13, April 3, and May 1. The
2005-2005 Faculty Senate membership list is attached elsewhere to this edition of The Newsletter.

2005-2006 PROMOTION AND/OR TENURE INFORMATION. The University Promotion and Tenure Committee
will meet with College, School, Library, & Departmental committees, and all interested persons on Friday,
September 9, at 12:00 noon in LBC Room 213. Faculty members who will be candidates for tenure and promotion
in future years are also welcome to attend. Faculty are welcome to bring their own lunch. Drinks and dessert will be
provided. Promotion and Tenure Dates for 2005-2006, as approved by the Council of Deans, may be viewed at:

2005-2006 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. The Professional Development Committee will
soon announce application dates for 2006 SUMMER GRANTS and/or 2006-2007 SABBATICALS. It is expected
that Summer Grant applications will be due October 19 and Sabbatical applications will be due October 26.
