SYMPATHY IS EXTENDED TO THE FAMILY OF EDWARD C. FURLONG, JR., retired Dean of the Business School,
who passed away on October 23, 2000. Predeceased by his wife, Charlotte "Peaches" Werwage Furlong, Dr. Furlong,
'38 BS, '41 MA, '83 Hon, is survived by his five children, including William R. Furlong, Associate Director of the
Chemistry Lab at Stetson. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, at St. Barnabas
Episcopal Church, DeLand, with a reception following in the Canterbury House. Memorial donations may be made to the
choir at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or to the Edward C. Furlong Scholarship at Stetson University.

Morris K. Udall Scholarships Available - Stetson University has been invited to nominate up to six students who
are sophomores or juniors during the 2000-2001 academic year as Udall Scholars. Two groups of students are
eligible for nomination:
(1) college sophomores or juniors in the current academic year who have outstanding potential and
who study the environment and related fields, and
(2) Native American and Alaskan-native students who are college sophomores or juniors, have
outstanding potential, and are in fields related to health care or tribal public policy.
The scholarship is up to $5,000, and those selected during their sophomore year may be renominated during the
next year's competition. Completed nomination packages for candidates must be received by the Morris K. Udall
Foundation by February 15, 2001. For more information concerning the scholarship competition and eligibility

"Travelers' Tales" is the theme of five new exhibitions opening up at The Southeast Museum of Photography at
DBCC campus in Daytona Beach. Betty Press, professional photographer/adjunct professor of photography at
Stetson, will be showing her photographs from Africa as part of the World Views exhibition. "Tales" will be up
