CONGRATULATIONS to Camille King, Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology, on her election as the
Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Representative to the Faculty Senate. From: Mike Bitter
The Council of Deans is pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Leonard as Director of International
Education and Ximena Mejia as Associate Director of the Cross Cultural Center and Assistant Director of
International Education.
Nancy Leonard comes to us from Brenau University, Gainesville, Georgia, where she served as Director of
International Education. She has extensive international experience in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and
Europe. Her B.A. is in Theatre from the University of Florida, and she has additional graduate work from UF
in English. After service in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa, and study in Wildlife Management in
Tanzania, she entered Teachers College at Columbia University, where she earned an M.A. in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages. She has also taught English as a Second Language and served as
a USIA English Teaching Fellow in Burma and Academic Director of ELS-lnternational in South Korea.
Nancy has published in Biological Conservation and presented to professional organizations, most recently
to the Georgia Association of International Educators on the "World Game" she organized as part of Brenau
University's academic year focus on global awareness.
Ximena Mejia, a Stetson graduate (B.A. and M.S. in Mental Health Counseling), has extensive experience on
campus as an Admission Counselor and International Student Adviser. Her joint appointment in intercultural
programs will involve administrative responsibilities at the Cross Cultural Center and service as Assistant
Director of the Center for International Education. Ximena looks forward to furthering the university's
commitments to enriching our intellectual community through diverse and global perspectives. She has the
