ANNOUNCEMENTS
UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-Friday, October 15, Noon-1:15 p.m.. Stetson Room. Agenda items include:
(1) Recommendation from the Faculty Senate to change the quorum for University meetings, and (2) Faculty salary
report presented by Dr. John Tichenor, Director, Institutional Research. A light lunch will be served beginning at
11:45 p.m.
AGENDA ITEM #1. Upon the recommendation of the Faculty Senate By-Laws Committee (Jane Bradford, Chair),
the Faculty Senate at its October 4, 1999, meeting unanimously passed the following change in quorum and will
ask the University Faculty to vote:
CURRENT QUORUM: (APPENDIX C: UNIVERSITY FACULTY BYLAWS)
7.4 A quorum shall consist of 40% of full-time faculty plus one.
PROPOSED QUORUM:
7.4 A quorum shall consist of 60 persons eligible to vote.
(Note: Sixty persons represent approximately one-third of the current, full-time faculty on the DeLand campus.
This number is 183 according to the Office of Institutional Research).
AGENDA ITEM #2. Dr. John Tichenor, Director, Institutional Research, will present a faculty salary report. He will
present longitudinal data on faculty salaries on the DeLand Campus since 1996 when the Faculty Compensation
Task Force was formed.

FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATORS: An updated version of the proposed University Mission Statement
is posted in the Stetson Intranet at (https://beret.stetson.eduSUMission.html). This revision takes into account
comments made by students and faculty, both at recent forums and individually, but it does not yet incorporate
comments from staff members. A forum for staff members has been scheduled for Friday. October 15. 7:30 -
9:00 a.m. in the Stetson Room. Members of the committee will be there to lead the discussion. Please direct your
comments regarding this latest version of the University Mission Statement to the Co-Chairs of the SACS Self-
Study Institutional Purpose Committee, Greg McCann and Diane Everett.
