ANNOUNCEMENTS
REMINDER: UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-Today Friday, November 12, Noon, Stetson Room. The agenda
includes the opportunity to affirm the University Mission Statement which is posted on the intranet
(https://beret.stetson.edu/SUMission.html). If time permits a marketing strategy video will be shown with
discussion and comments to follow. A light lunch will be served beginning at 11:45 a.m.

REMINDER: 10TH ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT EXHIBITION. A catered reception for this event begins at 6:00
p.m. on Friday, November 19 in Sampson Hall, followed by an awards ceremony at 7:00 p.m. The exhibition
features works by currently enrolled art and non-art Stetson students in media including painting, drawing,
printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography, digital art. Exhibition Judge, Theo Wujcik, (art professor at
University of South Florida, whose work is currently on exhibition in the Duncan Gallery through November 12),
will select the award-winning pieces. This is an Arts & Sciences cultural credit event. From: Chris Nelson
"LEAVING THE CONFEDERATE CLOSET"--Dr. Bonnie Strickland, Professor of Psychology at the University of
Massachusetts-Amherst, will be visiting Stetson November 15-16. In addition to meeting with groups of students,
staff, faculty, and administrators, Dr. Strickland will speak on "Leaving the Confederate Closet" at 7:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, November 16, in the Instructional Media Center's Large Presentation Room. The lecture will explore what
it is like to grow up gay, lesbian, or bisexual in the South. Dr. Strickland will also meet with interested members
of the Stetson community for an informal conversation in the Cross-Cultural Center (611 Bert Fish) from 2:30 -
4:00 p.m. on the 16th.
Dr. Strickland is one of the few women to have served as President of the American Psychological Association.
She has received national recognition for her work on gender, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation-work which
has contributed substantively to society's understanding of historically neglected populations and helped legitimize
the scholarly study of previously ignored areas. Dr. Strickland's visit is co-sponsored by the Women's Council,
the Women and Gender Studies Program, the Diversity Council, and Common Ground. From: Karen Kaivola
BULLETIN Revisions: Bulletin pages to be reviewed have been distributed to department chairs, deans, vice
presidents, and other persons responsible for various text in the Stetson University Bulletin. Changes are due to
the academic deans or the vice presidents by Wednesday, December 1. If you have changes that need to be made
to the Bulletin, please forward your changes to the appropriate dean or vice president by December 1. If you
normally receive pages from the Bulletin to be reviewed and have NOT received them, please contact Jane

REGISTRAR'S OFFICE. So that office staff can attend Banner Software Training on Tuesday, November 16, 1999,
the Registrar's Office will be closed for the entire day. Regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will resume
