FAMILY WEEKEND. This is a reminder that October 22-24 is Family Weekend. Faculty are invited to the
President's reception on Saturday, October 23, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the Hollis Center Lobby. All are
encouraged to attend and to meet and welcome our visiting guests. From: Colleen Becker
Live in Elizabeth Hall-Saturday, October 23, Professors Jean West and Michael Rickman will collaborate in a
performance of music for flute and piano. Sonatas by Reinecke, Poulenc, and Averitt show the tremendous
evolution in musical language over the past hundred years. The program will conclude with Ernest Bloch's "Two
Last Poems (Maybe...)" for flute and piano. We invite you to attend this recital in the midst of Family Weekend.

WOMEN AND GENDER ROUNDTABLE SERIES. On Tuesday, October 26, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cross-cultural Center
(located on Bert Fish Drive across from the swimming pool), Dr. Karen Hofmann from the Counseling Center will
be moderating a workshop on heterosexism, homosexuality, and homophobia. The workshop is entitled "Opening
Doors to Understanding and Acceptance of GLBT People: Working Toward Being an ALLY." The workshop is part
of the Women and Gender Studies Program's roundtable series. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.
The workshop will be registered as a Cultural Credit event.

The Friends of the DeLand Public Library (135 West Howry) will hold its fall book sale Friday, October 29, from
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 30, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thousands of books of all sizes,
shapes and subjects, as well as records, magazines, videos and games will be sold at bargain basement prices.
Do your Christmas shopping early! If you have books to donate, deliver them directly to the Library or call Joe
Sasek (ext. 7450) to have them picked up. One hundred percent (100%) of the proceeds of this sale are used to

A SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE. The Office of the Chaplain invites you to A Service of Remembrance on
Wednesday, November 3, at 4:00 p.m. in Nite Lights. Drawing from the Christian tradition of All Saints Day, when
the Church remembers and celebrates the lives of those who have died, this worship service will remember by
name those of the Stetson community-students, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees, and alumni, who are
special to you, as well as members of your families who have died this past year, irrespective of religious tradition.
If you have names of individuals you would like to be included, please call ext. 7523, or send by email to
"[email protected]" by Friday, October 29. Please include their relationship to you or to the community.
