HOLDS RENAISSANCE FUNDS. The Council of Deans is pleased to announce that Hollis Renaissance Funds will
be available for projects for 1999-2000. You are invited to submit a proposal to the Council of Deans-Deadline
February 15. To assist you in your thinking, we are scheduling a Workshop to present information and answer
questions. The workshop will be ort Tuesday, December 8, 3:30 p.>m. irt the Private Dtaihjj ftgqm., and will last
approximately 11/2 hours. We have asked several faculty who have been successful in the past in receiving Hollis
Renaissance Grants to make brief presentations offering their wisdom and advice (Digital Arts, CIS, and Nova
Religio). In addition, the Deans will be there to provide additional information (certainly not wisdom!).
The underlying theme of the Hollis Renaissance Programs is that they are academically sound and exciting, and
that they offer opportunities for partnerships between students and faculty and between Stetson and the external
community. An ideal project would be one where an outstanding new academic program is created, the faculty
members recruit excellent students for the program, external contacts provide internship opportunities and
ultimately job placement, and external partners so involved with the university that they make a commitment for
ongoing funding, (sounds easy doesn't it!) From: Jim Woodward, Chair, Deans' Council

sponsored by the Student Religious Life Council. Everyone is welcome to attend.
