UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-today Friday. September 18,1998, Stetson Room. The agenda includes a brief
report on Trustee actions by President Lee, and Promotion and Tenure Consistency Report from the Faculty Senate.

FACULTY SENATE. Debbi Dinkins has been elected Secretary/Treasurer of the 1998-99 Faculty Senate. Moffat
Williams has been elected as Music School Representative (completing Brian Doherty's term, through this academic
year). William Rogan has been elected as the Adjunct Faculty Representative.
Jean West has agreed to serve as the Music School Representative on the Senate Executive Committee, replacing
Brian Doherty who recently resigned from his position at Stetson. She joins Diane Everett, Chair; Nancy Vosburg,
Vice Chair; Debbi Dinkins, Secretary/Treasurer; Larry Belcher, Business School Representative; and Gene Huskey,
College of Arts and Sciences Representative.
Elected to this year's Senate Tenure and Academic Freedom Committee were Jane Bradford, Chair; Dan Hale; and
Gene Huskey.

UPDATED INFORMATION ON GRIEVANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. Grievance policies and procedures will
be refined during the 1998-99 academic year. All of our current grievance policies have been catalogued and
copies are available for anyone who desires them. Please contact the President's Office (ext. 7250), Dr. Bailey

RUSSIAN STUDIES LECTURE. The 1998-1999 Russian Studies Lecture Series will open at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday
evening, September 22, with a talk by Michael E. Urban, Professor of Political Science at the University of
California Santa Cruz. The lecture topic is "Russia's Transition: Flawed from the Start." Professor Urban is the
country's leading expert on Russian parties and social movements and a frequent observer of grass-roots political
activity in Russia. Urban's latest book, published last year by Cambridge University Press, is The Rebirth of Politics
in Russia. The lecture will be in Room 100 of the Lynn Business Center and will satisfy the Arts and Sciences
