Faculty Lounge of the Carlton Union Building. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. with the meeting immediately

GRIEVANCE OFFICER. I am pleased to report that Dr. Wayne Bailey, Professor of Political Science, has agreed to
serve as the Stetson University Grievance Officer. In this role, Dr. Bailey will serve as facilitator of all University
grievance policies and procedures. We are all grateful for his service.
GRIEVANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES will be refined during the 1998-99 academic year. In the interim, we
have developed (Da grievance and appeals policy for administrative and support personnel, and (2) a faculty
grievance procedure, following policy models developed by Furman University. These two policies will be used
as Stetson's official policies until amended. In addition, we have in place policies to manage (3) student grievance,
and (4) sexual harassment. And, we have a special council to consider sexual harassment grievances. These
policies are all included in a new document called Stetson University Administrative Structure, which is available

MATHEMATICS COLLOQUIUM: Dr. James Keesling of the University of Florida, will talk on "Biomathematics"
Thursday, September 17, 4:00 p.m., Elizabeth 308. Mathematical modeling is used to describe many biological
processes, including the spread of disease and the growth of organisms. Dr. Keesling is part of the Visiting
Lecturer Series of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He will talk about the process of modeling
and current research in the area. Refreshments will be served, and students can earn cultural events credit.
