ANNOUNCEMENTS
WOMEN AND GENDER STUDIES ROUNDTABLE SERIES. Dr. Roberta Favis, Associate Professor of Art History, will
present the fifth installment of the series on Tuesday, November 11 from 4:00 to 5:1 5 in 205 Sampson Hall. Her
presentation, "Fighting at the Table: The Ongoing Disputes over Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party," will examine
the ongoing critical and political controversy which this major work of feminist art began to generate even before
it was first exhibited in 1 979. Analysis of the continuing dialog which has surrounded this work provides an index
to the shifts in theoretical positions toward feminist artwork inside and outside both feminism and the art world
over the last thirty years. The session will be illustrated with slides of The Dinner Party and related artworks.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend and participate. From: Roberta Favis
WOODROW WILSON FELLOW-PLEASE ANNOUNCE TO YOUR CLASSES. Lawrence O'Rourke a visiting Woodrow
Wilson Fellow will be at Stetson from November 9-14. O'Rourke is a columnist and covers politics for McClachy
Newspapers. He has traveled with President-elect Clinton, President Bush and Ross Perot, and wrote lead stories
for the three presidential debates. Previously he worked as the White House correspondent for the St. Louis News-
Dispatch and covered the Bush-Gorbachev summit in Malta. O'Rourke will be attending a few classes while on
campus as well as holding a keynote address on Thursday, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Elizabeth Hall Chapel.
This will qualify as a cultural event and we urge you to encourage your students to attend. Lawrence O'Rourke
has been brought to Stetson by the Student Government Association and the Hollis Leadership Council. For more
