Dan Gunderson Exhibition: A Work in
Progress: Twenty Years at Stetson
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Live in Elizabeth Hall, August 30, 7:30 p.m.--The Friends of Music Recital this year will feature two new additions
to the Music School faculty and one member of our exceptional returning faculty. Michael Rickman, professor of
piano and last year's McEniry recipient, will play Chopin's Sonata in B-flat minor. Stetson's new trumpet teacher,
Moffatt Williams, with Kayla Liechty at the piano, will perform Suite in D from Handel's "Water Music." Mezzo-
soprano Jane Christeson and pianist Michael Rickman will perform songs from Brahms Zigeunerlieder and
"Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen. Jane is our new teacher of voice, diction, and opera, and is multitalented, as
you will see. The program will end with a guest appearance of a group that will knock your socks off. Please join

will share the President Staff's Agenda for 1996-97 and the workshop draft on Stetson University Shared Vision
which resulted from the recent PITF/Faculty Meeting. These documents are attached elsewhere to The Newsletter.

Adviser's Handbook. I am very pleased that Richard Ferland and Robbie Boerth have agreed to update the
Adviser's Handbook as part of our overall effort to help faculty in the advising process. Their goal will be to
complete the project by mid-October, in time to help with advising of students for spring semester.

The Faculty Senate would like to call particular attention to its new Special Committees, created to help provide
faculty input into some of the important decisions that will be made during the current transition process. These
are: (1) Faculty Incentives Committee, which will examine both monetary and other methods of recognizing faculty
achievement, and which will make appropriate recommendations for implementation of these methods (David
Everett, Chair, Bill Andrews, Michele Skelton, Ann Small); (2) The Strategic Vision Committee, which will facilitate
faculty input into the crafting of the strategic vision document (Jeff Horn, Chair, David Everett, Karen Kaivola,
Iliana Mankin); (3) The Senate Bylaws Committee, which will be charged with revising Senate Bylaws to reflect
current realities (Brian Doherty, Chair, Phillip Lucas, Susan Wilson). Please contact these or other senators to share
your ideas as these issues develop. I am now working with CIT to develop a community-wide electronic forum
that will allow us to speak together freely on topics of shared interest. If you have thoughts on the shape that this
forum should take, please let me know. I hope to have it up and running very soon.
