grades that you have, verify by your signature that the rolls are correct, and return all rolls, even if you have no
C- or lower grades to report, to this office by 9:00 a.m., Friday, October 17. If you have any questions, or have
not received a grade roll for a class, please call ext. 7142. We appreciate your cooperation in this most important

REMINDER-Stetson University Bulletin. As editor of the 1989-1999 University Bulletin (taking over from John
Schorr), within the next two weeks I will begin the process of asking for changes to next year's Bulletin. Anyone
wishing to make additions, corrections, or who has suggestions regarding the Bulletin should contact his/her
department chair or supervisor in order to coordinate the submission of changes, or you may call Patti Sanders,
Office of Institutional research, (ext. 7255) or Jane Bradford, Library, (ext. 7175) with changes. In addition to the
paper version, you may wish to view the Web version of the Bulletin found at www.stetson.edu/

Live in Elizabeth Hall, Friday, October 17, 2:30-4:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 18, 10:00-noon and 2:00-4:00
p.m.—Artist/teacher Horst Gunter will offer three vocal master classes on the Stetson campus. Gunter received
his musical education as a choir boy at the school of St. Thomas, where J.S. Bach had been cantor, then entered
the University of Leipzig as a student of music and philosophy. He has also studied at the Universities of Innsbruck
and Bologna. In 1941, he was engaged as the leading baritone at the opera house of Schwerin and also sang at
the State Operas of Dresden and Berlin. Gunter was taken prisoner by the Russians in 1945 where he remained
until 1949. Since then he has sung with the State Operas of Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart, as well as lieder
recitals throughout Europe. He retired from a position as Professor of Voice and Chair at the Musikhochschule in
Freiburg in 1978. He is well known throughout the US for his successful teaching and became the first foreign
member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Gunter has held master classes and seminars in
England, France, Sweden, and Finland, as well as the US. The EHA sessions are free and open to the public.
