ANNOUNCEMENTS
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Sunday, November 23, 3:00-4:00 p.m. The Campus Chorale under the direction of Dr.
Robert Rich will present a varied program of secular and sacred choral music. Featured will be George Frideric
Handel's Coronation Anthem, no.4 (Let thy hand be strengthened) written for the coronation of King George II and
Queen Caroline in 1727, and two canticles, Jubilate Deo and Te Deum. by Benjamin Britten for organ and choir.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the death of Johannes Brahms, the women of the chorale will sing four
compositions scored for piano and two French horns. The organist for the program is Christopher Glen a senior
organ major and the pianist is Stephanie Shafer C97). The program will conclude with arrangements of Folksongs

HOWARD THURMAN LECTURE SERIES. The Reverend Marvin Chandler, a musician as well as pastor, will speak
at 7:00 p.m. November 24 on "The Legacy of Howard Thurman and the 21st Century." He will again salute the
Reverend Thurman with music and a talk titled "A Musical Remembrance and Tribute to Howard Thurman" at 7:00
p.m. November 25 in the Pittman Room, Presser Hall. From: Cheryl Downs, Public Relations
VISITING DIGNITARY FROM ARGENTINA. Latin American Studies will hold a reception for Martin J. Miserachs.
He is the Secretario de Gobierno of the Municipality of Villa Allende, Argentina. He is also a UIM member. He
would like to develop some kind of relationship with Stetson and DeLand/Volusia County. He is visiting us to
discuss such possibilities. If anyone wants to help (yourself or students) in escorting Martin around while he's
here, I would love to hear from you. The reception will be on Tuesday, November 25, in the Faculty Lounge from
4:30 - 5:30 p.m. All interested Stetson faculty and staff are invited.

The next College of Arts & Sciences faculty meeting will be Friday, November 21, at 12:00 p.m. in Flagler Hall,
room 234. The main item of discussion will be the report of the Curriculum Committee. It is important that as
many faculty as possible attend, since many departments are represented by the curriculum decisions, and this is
the opportunity for all faculty to have a say in the curriculum throughout the College. The pass/fail policy revision
as recommended by the Department Chairpersons will be presented at the faculty meeting also.
