Commencement Issue

Commencement exercises for 28 Stetson University graduates will
" be held in the University auditorium, Saturday, at 5 p*m* The academic
services will officially close the institution's sixth summer session.
The graduating class is the largest group to receive degrees at
a summer commencement in Stetson's history, according to Dean Charles G.
Smith.
Simplicity and dignity will mark the summer exercises, D^an
Smith revealed in announcing the program, which follows: Processional,
March (Athalia), Mondels. ohn, played by Mrs. Eulalie Wooten of Daytona
Beach; invocation, Dr. H-.rry C. Garwood, Stetson professor; vocal solo,
,;Una Voce Pcco Fa" (Bart r of Seville), Rossini, hy Helene Golding, Stetson
student from Lakeland; conferring of degrees, President W. §. Allen;
benediction, Dr. D. H. Hall, Jr., pastor of the First Baptist Church in
De Land; and the recessional, Grand March (Aida), Verdi, played by Mrs.
Eulalie Wooten.
Nine of the graduates are candidates for the master of arts
degree, v/ith major fields in English, education, and history. Ten are candidates for the bachelor of arts degree; two, bachelor of science; one,
bachelor of music; and six are candidates for normal certificate diplomas.
