The Stetson Weekly News Letter was established last
summer for the purpose of keeping students, faculty members, and
all other persons connected with Stetson University acquainted
with events of the summer term. This year it is being continued
at the request of Dean Charles G. Smith, director of the summer
session, and v/ill make its appearance on the campus each Thursday
morning.
Anyone who has an announcement to make or information
he would like to disseminate throughout the school is cordially
invited to make use of the News Letter. Just drop in or telephone
the Publicity Office in Elizabeth Hall.
Stetson opened its seventh summer term last week with a
somewhat smaller enrollment than last year, due, no doubt, to competition from the two world fairs. According to data compiled by
the registrar's office, the total number of students is 218, 78 of
whom are men and. 140 women. This figure includes students from
eleven states and 25 Florida counties. As to religious preference,
there are 78 Baptists, 53 Methodists, 24 Presbyterians, 14 Epis-
copaleans, and representatives of six other denominations.

"Germany Since the World War" will be the subject of a
lecture this evening at 7:30 o'clock in Elizabeth Hall auditorium
by Dr. Weymouth T. Jordan, professor of history at Judson College,
Marion, Alabama, who is a visiting member of the summer faculty.
Professor Jordan indicated that he would discuss Germany
"in its proper setting in the European scene", pointing out objectively what has occurred in Germany and in its relations with other
countries since the close of the great war.
Professor Jordan's address is the second of the series
of "twilight hour" programs which have boon arranged for the enjoyment of summer students and faculty. Dean Smith has extended a
cordial invitation to everyone to attend those weekly events.
Next Thursday evening Miss Iris Daniel and Mrs. Pauline
Prevatt McCree of Orlando, former Pupils of Dr. W. E. Duckwitz,
director of the Stetson music school, will give a two piano recital. They will be assisted, by Miss Virginia Skaggs, alto soloist.
