DR. JORDAN TALKS OF
HITLER ATT]3 GERMANY
BEFORE LARGE CROWD
Last Thursday an audience of
approximately 200 persons heard
Dr. Weymouth T. Jordan, visiting
professor of history and political science, give a scholarly
discussion of "Germany Since the
World War", va the second'of the
twilight hour programs.
Dr. Jordan pointed out that
Eurooe,.and particularly Germany,
is the scene of at least four
major conflicts which contribute
to its present political, economic, and psychological unrest.
These conflicts he described as
democracy vs. dictatorship, religion vs. atheism, socialism vs.
capitalism, and communism vs.
fascism.
A cure for Europe's ills, the
speaker felt, lies only in quick
action along economic lines.
Once sanity is restored in the
economic field, political adjustments will follow.

Many Stetson students and faculty members will join the crowds
on Tuesday to celebrate the
Fourth of July in proper fashion
at beaches, picnic grounds, swimming holes, and amid the bright
lights of Daytona Beach and other
resorts.
Monday, July 3, is not a holiday, however, and classes will be
held as usual, Dean Charles G.
Smith announced today.

BI-WEEKLY VESPER SERVICES
WILL RE HELD IN CHAPEL
Every Tuesday and. Thursday
evening, Vesper Services will
be held in the chapel of Elizabeth Hall from S:30 to 7:00.
These evening vespers are non-
denominational, and offer a respite at the close of the day
from studies and other -tasks as
well as the privilege of enjoying a few minutes spent in divine
worship. Each student, faculty

and. Mrs. Pauline Prevatt McCree
of Orlando give a two-piano recital assisted by Miss Virginia
Skagps, vocalist.
The program is another of
the weekly twilight hour entertainments and will begin promptly at 7:30 o'clock in Elizabeth
Hall auditorium.
The two pianists are Stetson
graduates and former pupils of
Dr. W.E. Duckwitz, director of
the school of music. Mrs. McCree-
received her bachelor's degree
writb a major in public school
music in June,- 1936, and Miss
Daniel was awarded her bachelors
degree, majoring in piano, in
August of the same year, Tbey

Miss Skaggs is a popular St<£-
son songbird who Plans to receive
her degree in August. She has
been a prominent member of the
University glee clubs for several
years and.' is always in demand as
a soloist. Piano accompaniments
for Miss Skaggs will be played
by Miss Roberta Orcutt, Stetson
. music instructor.
