ANNOUNCEMENTS
University Faculty Meeting-today, Friday, October 4, Noon-1:15 p.m., Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall. Items on
the agenda include an update on the fall Board of Trustees meeting, and a discussion and possible agreement on
the Academic Calendar for 1997-98. Refreshments will be served. From: Gene Lubot, Provost
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Friday, October 4, 7:30 p.m., and at the First Baptist Church, Saturday, September 5, 7:30
p.m.--Stetson's annual High School Honors Choral Clinic will be held on our campus on Friday and Saturday,
October 4-5. There will be approximately 45 schools represented, with 600 students and their teachers attending.
The participants will be treated to a concert on Friday night featuring mezzo soprano Jane Christeson, trumpeter
Moffatt Williams, the Stetson Choirs, and the Stetson Opera Workshop. The guest ensemble will be Spruce Creek
High Concert Chorus conducted by Stetson graduate Gretchen Marz and Erma Gilliam. The Honor Choirs will
present the Saturday evening concert halls; but if you see a student wandering around campus, please be friendly.
Many of these students are looking forward to earning degrees within and outside of music and we would like them
to consider Stetson.
Live in Elizabeth Hall, Friday, October 11, 7:30 p.m.-Music Director Darryl One and the Stetson University
Orchestra will present their first concert of the semester, featuring guitarist Stephen Robinson performing a
concerto by 20th-century Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo. One will open the concert with Mozart's Overture
to the Marriage of Figaro and conclude with Brahms' Symphony No. 2. From: Jan Kindred
ART DEPARTMENT EXHIBITIONS-WORKSHOPS-LECTURES-October 17 and 18. Georgia ceramics artist David
Posiner demonstrates throwing techniques and decorating in an early English slipware style. Slide lecture 7:00

Eyefells exhibition, Concepts and Figures, mixed media and silicone rubber sculpture, Duncan Gallery/Sampson Hall.
Exhibition runs through December 6. Slide lecture 7:00 p.m., November 7, duPont-Ball Library, 5L. Maggie Taylor,
color photography featured in Sampson Hall foyer gallery October 28-December 6. All events are free and open
to the public. The lectures may be used to satisfy the College of Arts and Sciences Cultural Events
