ANNOUNCEMENTS
"Curricular Use of Electronic Mail and the World Wide Web" will be the topic of today's Collegial Seminar at noon
in the Private Dining Room. Professors Debbie Juusela, Music; Phillip Lucas, Religious Studies; and Kevin Riggs,
Physics, will explain briefly how they are using these hightech facilities with the classes. There will be time for
general discussion and reporting of others' experiences. Bring your lunch; coffee and dessert provided by Dean
Maris. All members of the faculty and staff are welcome.

Dr. Avner Ziv, a visiting scholar, will present his lecture topic, "The Psychology of Humor" on Sunday, September
29, at 8:00 p.m. at Temple Beth-El, Ormond Beach, Florida. He is a professor of Psychology at Tel-Aviv University
in Israel. He is the Director of Graduate Studies in Educational Counseling and Chair for the unit of talented youth.
Dr. Ziv received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Professor Ziv was the first
recipient of the Academic Association for Therapeutic Humor. If you need further information regarding this event
please contact Rabbi Barry Altman at Temple Beth-El (904) 677-2484. This event may be used to satisfy the

UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-Friday, October 4, Noon-Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall. President Lee will
provide an update on the fall Board of Trustees meeting, and the 1997-98 Academic Calendar will be discussed
and perhaps agreement reached. Refreshments (sandwiches and cookies) will be served.
