(Bylaws of the University Faculty: Faculty Handbook. Appendix C, 7.4, page C-4)
CURRENT BYLAW: "A quorum shall consist of 40 persons qualified to vote."
The purpose of this motion is to guarantee that issues affecting the entire faculty must be decided by a majority
of our Faculty, rather than one-quarter of our Faculty. From: Gene Lubot, Provost
REMINDER. The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, October 2. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Private Dining
Room of the Carlton Union Building. The meeting will follow at 6:45 in the Faculty Lounge. Dinner and the

PLANNING TO HAVE YOUR STUDENTS USE VIDEO? If you expect to assign (or just encourage) any of your
classes to utilize video production this semester, please have them contact the Instructional Media Center three
to four weeks in advance of their presentation. Better yet, allow me 15 minutes to speak to them about what is
required in simple video production and other presentation forms. This will reduce some student frustration.
From: Terry Grieb
FACULTY: Please advise your students that the deadline for Study Abroad Programs participation for the Spring
Semester of the Academic Year 1995-96 is OCTOBER 1, 1995. The Office of International Exchange and Off-
Campus Programs is located in Room IE, Elizabeth Hall, Campus Box 8412, ext. 8165, fax 8167.
OFF-CAMPUS TRIPS: Faculty Members Proposals for Off-Campus Trips should be submitted to the Office of
International Exchange. Please send your proposal to Campus Box 8412. The International Committee will meet
to approve all NEW TRIP proposals. All Directors of new trips will be invited to attend the meeting in order to make
a presentation to the International Committee.
FREIBURG EXCHANGES: As most faculty know, in addition to the traditional one semester or one year faculty
exchange between Stetson and Paedagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, there are one month exchanges. The
Stetson faculty member goes to Freiburg for the month of January or June, and the Paedagogische Hochschule
faculty member comes here in March or September. Stetson pays for the round trip transportation (Orlando-
Freiburg) and an apartment in Freiburg is provided at the Paedagogische Hochschule. The faculty member takes
care of all additional expenses. Anyone interested should contact the Office of International Exchange for further
information and an application. Fr°m: GarY Maris
