CLASSES ON LABOR DAY
This is a reminder that classes a_fi scheduled on Labor Day (Monday, September 4). This is in compliance with
faculty action at the Faculty Meeting of February 21, 1994. At that meeting the academic calendar for 1995-96
was approved, and an explicit motion was made and approved by the faculty that Labor Day would be a class day.

LIVE in Elizabeth Hall, September 1, 7:30 p.m.-The Music School will introduce four new faculty at the Friends
of the School of Music Recital this Friday. Organist, Susan Klotzbach; soprano, Melinda Lein; and pianists, Anne
McLean and Karen Aebischer. Stephen Robinson, guitarist and long-time member of the Music faculty, will open
the concert. Among the three pieces he will perform is a new work for guitar written for Steve by Stetson
composer, Kari Juusela. Our new faculty will perform works for voice, piano, and organ, from the 18th-20th
centuries, ending with a 1985 work for organ, An Evening Dance by William Albright. Please come and hear our

REMINDER-Cross-listing courses with Women and Gender Studies. Faculty interested in cross-listing Spring 1996
courses with the WGS minor or who have questions about how to cross-list a course should inform Karen Kaivola
by Monday, September 11. Courses that have been approved for cross-listing by the WGS committee in the past
(and have not been redesigned) do not need to be reapproved; new or redesigned courses will have to meet with

LIBRARY BOOKSALE AND GIVEAWAY: On Wednesday, September 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the duPont-
Ball Library is conducting a special booksale and giveaway of hundreds of books, recordings, and other materials.
The event will be held outside between the Library and the Holler Fountain. Rain location: main floor of the

WIN TICKETS to the Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers football game! Phi Alpha Delta, pre-law fraternity,
will be selling raffle tickets Thursday, August 31 (noon - 1:30 p.m.) and Friday, September 1 (11:30 - 1:00 p.m.)
in front of the Carlton Union Building for a pair of north-end zone seats at "The Swamp." The raffle is part of a
fund raising effort to help support students who want to attend the national pre-law conference in Chicago.
Tickets are only $1--so please come see us in front of the CUB or call Laurie Stern at ext. 8701. The drawing will
