ANNOUNCEMENTS
The University Faculty meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. in Rinker Auditorium, Davis
Hall. The topic will be a proposal (see below) with respect to the number of hours required for graduation in the
new calendar and a timetable for phasing and implementing the change.
PROPOSAL WITH RESPECT TO THE NUMBER OF HOURS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION
With the elimination of Winter Term, it is necessary to revise the general University degree requirements. As
currently, each school or college may add their own requirements beyond those stated here.
Upon the recommendation of the Faculty Senate and the three Academic Deans, I bring the following two
proposals to the Faculty for approval:
1. For a degree, the minimum of 1_2Q_ semester hours with a "C" (2.0) grade point average for all work must be
presented, of which at least A__ hours must be taken at Stetson University. (Changes from current policy
underlined.)
2. If approved, the above would be phased in according to the following schedule:
a. Students graduating in any Commencement during calendar year 1995: 126 semester hours required.
(These students would have hade the normal number of Winter Terms available and the current
requirements should apply.)
b. Students graduating in calendar year 1996: 123 semester hours required. (These students would have
had one less Winter Term available and thus will have their requirements reduced by three semester
hours.)
c. All students graduating in calendar year 1997 and after: 120 semester hours required.
