UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING
* • * AACSB Visiting Team Recommendation • • *
I am extremely pleased to report that the AACSB Visiting Team has found both the Business School and the
Accounting Program in compliance with all standards, and they will recommend full accreditation for both at both
the undergraduate and graduate level. The Visiting Team's recommendation will be reviewed by the AACSB Board,
and the Board's official decision will not be known until the spring. But the Visiting Team's recommendation
carries considerable weight, and we should all congratulate and thank Paul Dascher, Jud Stryker, Bill Jens, and
all faculty and staff members of the School of Business for a job very well done. I personally extend my thanks
and best wishes to everyone.

ICUF (Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida) Executive Director Election:
Some members of the faculty have inquired about recent press coverage regarding ICUF's appointment of a new
Executive Director. During service on the Search Committee for the new Executive Director for ICUF, I expressed
my concerns over potential conflicts of interest and the plan to forego a full search and interview process. The
majority of the members of the Search Committee, influenced by the Legislative Ethics Commission decision,
disagreed with my position and voted to recommend State Senator George Kirkpatrick for the position. I expressed
these same concerns again at the President's Council session at which an actual vote was taken to elect Senator
Kirkpatrick. At this point in time, ICUF is receiving considerable negative publicity over its decision. Nevertheless,
Stetson will continue to participate in ICUF in whatever ways we can to protect important financial aid issues for
our students, while not violating our institutional values and integrity.
