REMINDER-Today, Friday, October 8, at 8:00 p.m., flutist Jean Ohlsson Rickman will present her solo faculty
recital in Elizabeth Hall. She and faculty pianist Michael Rickman will perform three works for flute and piano,
representing a variety of musical styles: Frederick Kuhlau's Variations on 'The Last Rose of Summer' and sonatas
by Phillipe Gaubert and Jinrich Feld. The program will also include two works for flute alone. One is 'Les Folies
d'Espagne' by the French Baroque violist/composer Marin Marais. A famous sarabande melody is the basis for a
colorful set of variations. Dr. Rickman will also play 'Kokopeli' by Katherine Hoover, inspired by a legendary flute-
playing hero of the Hopi Indian culture. Please come! From: Jean Rickman
REMINDER--Dr. William Westney, pianist, will present a solo recital titled 'Waltzes and More' Tuesday, October
12, 8:00 p.m. n Elizabeth Hall. On Sunday, October 10, he will lead an 'Un-Master Class' (an exploratory
workshop for musicians) in Presser Hall. Please call for details on the class, as the specific time has not yet been
arranged. Dr. Westney, on the Stetson faculty in the 1970's, is now Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence
at Texas Tech University. Both events are free of charge to the public, and the campus community is cordially

The Encounter program for Wednesday, October 13, will be given by the IFC/Panhellenic organization. The title
for the program is "Greek Ideals." The speakers will consist of the presidents from each Fraternity and Sorority
and Gary Meadows, Executive Director of the Alumni Association.
On October 19, Dr. Langdon Gilkey, Shailer Matthews Professor of Theology Emeritus, University of Chicago
Divinity School, will be giving a lecture titled "Creationist Controversy." The scheduled time is 7:30 p.m. in the
Elizabeth Hall Auditorium. Dr. Langdon Gilkey will also be the guest speaker for the Encounter program on
Wednesday, October 20, at 10:00 a.m. The title for this lecture will be "Christian Faith and The Universe of
Modern Science." Both lectures will be followed by a question-and-answer period. From Clyde Fant
The Faculty Senate will meet Monday, October 11, 1993. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Private Dining Room
of the Carlton Union Building with the meeting to follow at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Dinner and the
meeting are open to all faculty. Anyone wishing to make a reservation for the dinner should call Jane Bradford,
ext. 7175 or 7190 before noon on Monday. The agenda of the full Senate will include faculty reaction to the draft
HIV/AIDS policy, discussion of possible adjunct faculty representation in the Faculty Senate, and an update on the
two-semester calendar discussion. Senate committees will meet at 8:00 p.m., following the full Senate meeting.

The School of Music is pleased to announce that WMFE radio, FM 90.7 in Orlando is broadcasting a series of
Stetson School of Music concerts and recitals. The program, Music From Stetson, is aired on Tuesday evenings
