REMINDER-UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING~10:00 a.m. Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall, today, October 22. On
the agenda is an update on the two-semester calendar, the search for the Vice President of Business and Finance,

FAMILY WEEKEND. This is a reminder that October 22-24, 1993, is Family Weekend. Faculty are asked to help
make our guests feel welcome, and they are particularly invited to the President's reception on Saturday, October
23, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the President's home, and to the President's Address on the same day at
10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in Elizabeth Hall Chapel. Complimentary tickets for lunch from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m., have

EVALUATING STUDENTS: HOW IS IT POLITICAL? The Professional Development Committee and the Women and
Gender Studies Program are sponsoring a Faculty Workshop on this topic. This workshop, which will explore the
politics involved in various methods of evaluating student performance, will be held in the Private Dining Room of
the Carlton Union Building at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. November 4. Free dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.
If you are currently teaching in the Hollis Leadership Development Program or in Women and Gender Studies-or
if you are interested in doing so-we particularly encourage you to attend and share your ideas on this complex
issue. To sign up, call Norma Dean in the English Office (7720) by Thursday, October 28. Don't wait! We can
accommodate only 25 participants, so call now to reserve your spot. Several informative essays that will be used

On October 28 and 29 the Chemistry Department will be hosting a visit by Captain Way Fountain III, U.S. Army
Chemical Corps (Stetson Class of 1985). Captain Fountain will present a public seminar at 7:30 p.m., 221 Sage
Hall, October 28, on "Fourier Transform Raman Spectroscopy." All interested persons are invited to attend.
