SEARCH FOR THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE. I am pleased to announce that the following
people have agreed to serve on the search committee for the Vice President for Business and Finance: Jim
Beasley, Dudley Howe, Adrienne Perry, Joe Master, and Jennifer Foo. Provost Gene Lubot will chair the

REMINDER-September 29, 1993, the Counseling Center luncheon will feature Southern author Ferrol Sams. Dr.
Sams is being sponsored in joint cooperation by the Institute for Christian Ethics and the Artists and Lecturers
Committee. Anyone interested in participating in the luncheon should contact the Counseling Center at ext. 8900.
Also, Dr. Ferrol Sams will be speaking for the Encounter Series, Wednesday, September 29, 1993, at 10:00 a.m.
and will give a public lecture that evening at 7:30 p.m.

CULTURAL STUDIES COLLOQUIUM. A reminder: The first meeting of the cultural studies colloquium will be held
at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, at Karen Kaivola's. We will be discussing the introduction "Clothes Make the Man"
and the chapter "Breaking the Code" from Vested Interests: Cross-Dressing and Cultural Anxiety. Photocopies
of these chapters are on faculty reserve in the Library. For more information, contact Karen Kaivola (English

WOMEN AND GENDER STUDIES COURSES. Monday, September 27, at 4:00 p.m. is the absolute deadline for
submitting proposals for Spring, '94, courses to be cross-listed as Women and Gender Studies course. If you have
not already submitted your course, please do so. If you need information about guidelines, call Ann Morris in the

DIVERSITY PROGRESS 1988-1993. Attached to this Newsletter is an Institutional Research Fact File about
diversity at Stetson. We thought it important to highlight some of the more dramatic changes. Since 1988, there
have been the following percentage increases in minorities at Stetson:
