ANNOUNCEMENTS
<EMINDER--SUNDAE ON MONDAY. The Quality of Service Committee and the University Clulyinvite all faculty
and staff members for a Sundae Monday on September 6 (Monday) on the lawn of President Lee stjouse. Bring
your lunch and beverage and we will supply the dessert. We will be serving ice cream from noon - 2:00 p.m. to
accommodate varying lunch hours. There will be chairs available, but if you have a picnic attitude,/feel free to
bring a blanket to spread out. What a way to start the new school year! Come out to help unwelcome new
^faculty and staff members and enjoy the company of all of your Stetson Friends.
REMINDER-STETSON UNIVERSITY CHORAL UNION. All Stetson faculty and staff are invited to participate in the
1993 Fall Semester Choral Union. This semester the choir's concert will feature the most familiar of all great
works in the choral/orchestra repertoire, Handel's Messiah. November 22 and 23, and will be joined in these
performances by full orchestra and guest soloists. From: Duncan Couch, School of Music
The first COUNSELING CENTER LUNCHEON will be September 8, 1993, at noon in the Private Dining Room. Call

On Saturday, October 2, 1993, Continuing Education will present a Children's Literature Conference featuring
Gloria Houston, an award-winning children's author. Her presentation is titled "Literature Across the Curriculum:
Why Can't Learning Be Fun." Other speakers and their topics are: Dr. M. Jean Greenlaw, "Let's Give Our Children
Story!"; Dr. Adrienne Perry, "Bringing Them Together: The Endless Possibilities of Multicultural Literature"; and
Dr. Carol Corcoran and Ms. Susan McDole, "Teaching Strategies for Using Picture Books." Stetson faculty and
students may attend at a special rate of $10. For additional information, please contact Continuing Education, ext.

On October 7-8, 1993, Continuing Education will sponsor "The Church: Its Changing Leadership and
Environment." The focus of this two-day conference is on church growth through effective leadership,
communication and quality-caring. Speakers will be Carl F. George, Director of the Charles E. Fuller Institute of
Evangelism and Church Growth and Pat Patillo, Vice President for University Relations at Samford University in
Birmingham, Alabama. Please contact Continuing Education for further information at 7500.
