ANNOUNCEMENTS
The topic of the September Collegial Seminar, today at noon in the Private Dining Room,
is "Diversity: A Challenge for Higher Education," by Dr. Patrick C. Coggins, Jessie Ball
duPont Professor of Education. The purpose of this presentation is to examine the
assumptions, conceptual frameworks and strategies for considering multicultural education
as an integral part of Stetson University. The content focus will address Bank's Theory
of Ethnicity, Ethnicity Revival Phases, Models of Diversity, and the national requirements
for diversity education. Dr. Coggins will use visual aids, socratic methods, and
cooperative learning in the presentation. Bring a lunch to the Private Dining Room around
noon; the presentation will begin at 12:15 and end at 1:15 p.m.

REMINDER—WHAT IS GRADUATE SCHOOL. . .and How Do You Select One? How does it differ from
the undergraduate experience? How do you select a graduate program best suited to your
personal needs? These are topics which will be addressed in a live teleconference to be
presented in Room 5L on Thursday, October 3, at 1:00 p.m. Please alert any students who
are contemplating graduate school, and encourage them to attend. The program also
promises to be helpful to faculty advisers and anyone who counsels students.

The Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE) is presenting a number of
international seminars at various sites around the world: Chile, Germany, Hong Kong,
Netherlands/Belgium, Northern Ireland, Poland, Soviet Union and Vietnam. Anyone
interested should come to the International House for more information.

REMINDER—The Foreign Service Written Examination will be administered on November 9,
1991, for the Department of State, the U.S. Information Agency, and the Department of
Commerce. The registration deadline is October 4. Application information and forms are
