SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT ANNUITIES (SRA). Calculations for new "maximum allowable" deductions have
been completed. If you want to change your deduction for September, please contact Kim Norman TODAY,

UNIVERSITY GRIEVANCE OFFICER. In response to inquiries, I am pleased to report that Dr. Earl Joiner has
consented to continue as University Grievance Officer for one final year. Any non-faculty administrative/staff
individual may approach Dr. Joiner with a work-related concern. He may be contacted at (1) ext. 7186, (2) ext.
7523, or (3) ext. 7542 (in that order). His campus box is 8353 and his office is in Elizabeth Hall, room 309B.
Dr. Joiner has retired as a member of the faculty, but is assisting the President in relations with Churches of the
Florida Baptist Convention, and he is continuing as University Grievance Officer.

UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEETING-Mondav September 28. 10:00-10:50 a.m.. Rinker Auditorium, Davis Hall.
At the last meeting of the University Faculty, President Lee indicated that we would be finding ways to invite
participation in the preparation of the next edition of the Long Range Plan. Over the summer, members of the
Planning Issues Task Force (Lee, Brakeman, Edmondson, Whittaker, Horton, Beasley, Schorr, Maris, Woodward,
W. Wright, Morris, and Nance) prepared several documents related to the mission of the University. President
Lee shared these documents with the Faculty Senate on September 14.
We now share them with those who receive The Newsletter and invite your observations. You may send
comments in writing to John Schorr (campus box 8263) who will prepare a summary for the PITF. Written
comments should be sent to John by October 15.
Also, the Faculty Meeting on September 28 will be devoted to a discussion of these documents. Members of
the PITF want these statements to reflect the views of members of the community. We hope these statements
will be discussed in meetings of the respective Faculties, at the Student Association, and by other groups. We
are at an important step in a process we expect to take at least a year. We hope for a good beginning on the
28th. Also at the meeting we will be privileged to recognize and honor a senior member of our faculty. Monday.
