On Monday, November 16, the Political Science Department will be hosting a Political Forum in rooms 204/205
of the Carlton Union Building. The time will be from 12:15 -1:15 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring their
own lunch. The guest speakers will be Janet and John Wallach and the topic of discussion will be "The Middle
East: Can Old Enemies Become New Friends." All faculty members and students are welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, November 18. Or. Jean Dickman will be the guest speaker for Chapel. Dr. Dickman, class of
1950, was featured in the Fall/Winter 1992 Pro Veritate. She is a retired missionary and surgeon. Her message
to the students, faculty and staff is "Listening to the Leading of the Lord."

REMINDER-- The HOLLIS BOOK FEAST, is Thursday. November 19. 4:00 - 6:30 p.m., cosponsored by the Hollis
Leadership Council and the Women and Gender Studies Committee. The book for study will be You Just Don't
Understand: Men and Women in Conversation by Deborah Tannen, professor of linguistics at Georgetown
University. You Just Don't Understand deals with gender differences in conversational style. Book Feast
participants receive a free book and dinner and a lively discussion, if they make a good faith commitment to read

STOVER THEATRE will have two productions next week Carwash. a one-act play directed by Joyce Saville will
be Wednesday, November 18, and Thursday, November 19. Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands, a Readers'
Theatre production of four Jill McCorkle stories directed by Susan Wilson will be Thursday, November 19, and
Friday, November 20. Shows will start at 8:00 p.m. From: Susan Wilson
Dr. Marilyn Ross, consultant to the Provost will lead a program for faculty on "Grants and Grantsmanship," on
Tuesday. November 17. 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. She plans to give a general overview of the
topic, review materials, and engage in discussion with faculty members. Dr. Ross reports that she has met with
some faculty members already and is looking forward to seeing them and meeting with additional faculty

FLEX PLAN. Open enrollment for the 1993 Plan Year will be from November 16 through December 18. A Brown
& Brown representative and I will be available to answer your questions on Friday. December 4 from 1:00 - 2:00
p.m. in the Carlton Union Building, rooms 204/205. You will be receiving a memorandum with directions, new
enrollment forms and a flow chart for new procedures. Once your election has been made, it cannot be changed
except in very limited situations. Under no circumstances will enrollment forms be accepted after December 18.
