Collegial Seminar today November 6, noon, in Private Dining Room. Presentation by Dr. Tom Farrell, Chair and
Professor of English, "Editing the Non-Existent Manuscript: Chaucer's Petrarch." Bring your lunch. Dessert and
coffee provided by Dean Maris of the College of Arts & Sciences. The abstract appeared in last week's edition

The Faculty Senate will meet Monday. November 9. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Private Dining Room of
the Carlton Union Building. The meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge. Dinner ($4.50) and the
meeting are open to all faculty. Anyone wishing to make a reservation for the dinner should call Jane Bradford,
ext. 7175 or 7190 before noon on Friday.
The agenda for the November 9 meeting includes a report from the Office of Institutional Research on faculty
salaries. Interested faculty can obtain a copy of this report from Senators. John Schorr will be present at the
meeting. Also on the agenda is the presentation of the Academic Affairs Committee's report on the Winter Term.
All faculty are welcome to attend the meeting. If vou wish to attend the meeting, please let Leonard Nance
know in advance so that additional seating can be arranged, if necessary (ext. 7243).

Professor Thomas Remington, Department of Political Science, Emory University, will speak on "Federalism and
Ethnic Representation in Yeltsin's Russia" at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 9, in the Stetson Room. This public
lecture is the second in a Russian Studies series on ethnic conflict in the lands of the former USSR. The
University community is invited to an informal reception for Professor Remington at 5:00 p.m. Monday, in the
new Russian Studies Center, which is located at the corner of Amelia and Michigan Avenues.
