ANNOUNCEMENTS
The first meeting of the 1989-90 Faculty Senate will be held on Monday, September 11,
at 6:45 p.m. in the Private Dining Rodm. The agenda will include a discussion by the
Provost of his priorities for the 1989-90 academic year. All faculty are invited to
attend. Those who want to have dinner at 6:00 p.m. may go through the cafeteria line
and take their trays to the Private Dining Room.

INSURANCE COVERAGE ON PERSONAL PROPERTY ITEMS: All faculty and staff members are
reminded that any and all items of personal property used or housed on campus remain
the responsibility of the individual owner. University insurance coverages do not
protect such items (University policy paragraph 10.7.7.1, Declaration of No
Responsibility: Personal Property of Students and Staff).

The second workshop on the university-wide graphic standards program will be Tuesday,
September 19, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carlton Union Building, rooms 204-205. This
workshop is for those who received a copy of the graphics manual but did not attend
the first workshop. Anyone who feels they may need assistance implementing the
standards in their publications is welcome to attend. Please R.S.V.P. to the Public
Relations Office, ext. 340, by Friday, September 15.

Collegial Seminars: The dates of this series, sponsored by the College of Arts and
Sciences, for fall semester are October 2, October 23, November 13, and December 4.
The goal of the seminars is to encourage communication across disciplinary lines in
which you are challenged to explain an aspect of your professional activity to
colleagues in a language they can comprehend. If you have a scholarly paper or
project you are willing to share, send a brief note about it to Paul Steeves, Box
8344, who will work it into the schedule for either this semester or the spring
semester. A collegial seminar presentation can be especially valuable at a stage in
your work that is somewhat short of completion of a scholarly paper so that the
responses of your colleagues might help in the final rewriting. From: Dr. Paul Steeves

WINTER TERM TRIPS. Directors of Winter Term Trips are reminded that detailed program
proposals (academic content and travel) are due in the International Office by
September 15, 1989. New programs are to be presented to the International Studies
Committee later in September. The date will be determined shortly.
