ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT the near future in computers and instruction? Doug Jackson,
Academic Computer User Services Manager, has made available a short videotape on that
topic for faculty viewing. Drop by the Instructional Media Center in the duPont-Ball
Library for an eleven-minute look at what's coming to the classroom.

TO ALL DEPARTMENTS. All off-campus printing requisitions must first be approved by
the Print Shop Director and then be given to purchasing to obtain a purchase order
number. The requisition must be filled out with the Vendor's name, price quoted,
stock to be used, amount of copies, ink color(s), and a "dummy" of the art work. All
this should be brought to the Print Shop Director so he may ascertain the feasibility
of in-house production as opposed to outside production. If an outside production is
decided upon, a few samples of the finished product must be given to the Director of
the Print Shop so he can file them with your duplicate requisition. Your cooperation
and assistance in this procedure will be appreciated.

FULBRIGHT GRANTS. The deadline for Fulbright Grants for foreign study for graduating
seniors is October 31. If you have a student who is outstanding and, if this student
could profit from spending a year abroad in a graduate program, encourage him/her to
see me for information about application. The program is very competitive but our
students should apply. Language competency must be sufficient to engage in the

The initial career development program, "Strengthening Communication Skills," will
begin October 11. An announcement has been placed in the boxes of administration and
support staff personnel. Registrations will be taken by the Division of Continuing
Education on a first-come basis and only by mail. We have space for 20 persons in the
initial program. If you have questions, please contact the Division of Continuing

Gretchen M. Handwerger will be on campus November 13-17 this fall as a Woodrow Wilson
Fellow. A graduate of Swarthmore College, Mrs. Handwerger has devoted much of her
professional life to leadership in the U.S. Peace Corps, for which she ultimately was
Deputy Director, and The World Bank, for which she has been senior loan officer and is
currently Program Coordinator. She has served extensively on several continents. She
is well-qualified to speak on Developing Countries, the Peace Corps, the Federal
Bureaucracy, and How to Combine Career, Home, and Family.
If you would like to have Mrs. Handwerger speak to your classes or to any student
organization, and/or if you would like to assist in hosting during her visit, please

STETSON COMMUNITY—Does anyone have a bicycle that they would be willing to loan? We
have a professor from the Soviet Union, Marina Priventseva, arriving October 1 to
teach the rest of this academic year. She will be living in a duplex on Amelia Avenue
and will not have a car. If someone has a bicycle that is in good condition, and will
