ANNOUNCEMENTS
The first regular monthly meeting of the Stetson Faculty Senate will be held at 6:45
p.m. on Monday, September 14, in the Private Dining Room of the Carlton Union
Building. It will be preceded by an optional buffet dinner ($3.50) at 6:00 p.m.
Senate meetings and dinners are scheduled for the second Monday of each month (except
the December meeting which is on the 7th), at the times and place indicated above.
Everyone in the academic community is cordially invited to attend any or all of these
meetings. Those planning to dine, including Senators, should notify the Senate
Secretary, Dr. Ellen Smith, ext. 278 by the Friday preceding. If Dr. Smith is not
available, please leave a message with the English department secretary, ext. 273.

Please note that the following schedule will be observed on Thursday, September 24,
1987, so that students and faculty may attend the fall preaching series:
8:00 a.m. classes will meet from 8:00 to 8:50 a.m.
9:30 a.m. classes will meet from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m.
All other classes will meet as regularly scheduled.

The first Hollis Book Feast will be September 23. This is a book discussion which
includes dinner. Participants will receive a free copy of the book and a free dinner,
provided that they read the book in advance of the discussion. To make a commitment—
reservation, call ext. 480. Your copy of the book will be delivered upon your good
faith-promise to read it and to arrive at 4:30 p.m. on September 23 prepared to
discuss it. The book for September is Harlan Cleveland's 261-page The Knowledge
Executive: Leadership in an Information Society.

INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH: Dr. John Schorr (Sociology) will become the Institutional
Research Officer here at Stetson. His appointment will begin January 4, 1987, and
will be part-time. He will devote full time to these responsibilities in June and
July. John will continue as a member of the Sociology department. He will report
directly to the President. A bit later on we will report in some detail on the work
John will be doing. Generally he will assist in the implementation of the Stetson
