ANNOUNCEMENTS
The next meeting of the Faculty Senate will be Monday, October 12, at 6:45 p.m. in the
Private Dining Room. All faculty members are invited to attend. If anyone wishes to
join the group for a dinner (costing $3.50) at 6:00 p.m., please make a reservation by
early next Friday with Ellen Smith (ext. 278, box 8300) or with the English Department

Inauguration and Classes (Friday, November 6). The inaugural ceremony will be at 2:30
p.m. Afternoon classes, beginning at 1:30 p.m. will be cancelled. More specific

Faculty and staff: This year Lennox Studios will be photographing all faculty and
staff members individually for the yearbook. Faculty and staff pictures will be taken
October 5 through October 15 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
daily. You are encouraged to come by the Student Lounge in the Carlton Union Building

On Thursday, October 15, a cook-out and intra-squad basketball game will be held at
the Edmunds Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. It is "Catch the Fever Night" and marks the
opening of the new season. Cost of the cook-out is $4 for adults and $3 for children
12 and under. There is no cost for the game which begins at 7:30 p.m. Door prizes
and contests will be a part of the festivities. Plan to attend and "catch the fever."

Lloyd Llnney, Soprano, and Michael Rickman, Pianist, will present a recital in
Elizabeth Hall, Tuesday, October 13, 8:00 p.m. The program will include an aria by
Handel, Violetta's aria from Act I of La Traviata by Verdi, and three song cycles:
"Frauenliebe und Leben" by Schumann, "Cinq melodies populaires Grecques" by Ravel, and
"From the Sea" by John Duke with poetry by Sara Teasdale. Ms. Linney presented
portions of this program at Florida State University in July as part of the performance requirements for the Doctor of Music degree. From: Ms. Lloyd Linney
