FACULTY AND STAFF: Due to the limited parking space, the Presser Hall parking lot is
reserved solely for the use of Presser Hall faculty, staff, and vehicles with special
parking permits. All other faculty and staff are requested to utilize the library
and Flagler Hall parking areas. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Dr. Ken Everett had a novel experiment published in the September issue of the
Journal of Chemical Education, 59, 802-803, 1982. Its title: The Titration of Air
with Nitric: Oxide.
It offers a different and sure-fire way to show the percentage of
oxygen in air.
The Forensics Team will attend its first tournament of the year the weekend of
October 8-9. Students will depart Thursday evening and will return Saturday evening.
Students attending will be: Craig Putnal, Susan Dye, Marcie Groover, Jenni Paquette,
Kirk Boutwell, Tony Desantis, Ann Milner, Alan Gaylord, Mark Kapusta, Tammy Cox,
Eric Reyes.
A Florida Watercolor Society annual exhibition in Tallahassee included work by five
local artists—three of whom won prizes. Winners were announced Saturday at an awards
banquet. Among the winners was Fred Messersmith, Chairman of the Art Department, who
won a $100 memorial award. The exhibition, which includes work by 95 members of the
Florida Watercolor Society, will remain on view October and November on the 22nd floor
of the State Capitol building.
The West Volusia Branch for the Association For Children With Learning Disabilities
will present a special program featuring Dr. T. E. Smotherman, Department of Education,
on October 19, 1982. Dr. Smotherman, as Chairman of the Volusia County School Board
will present the school board's approach to special education and learning problems
to this group of interested parents and educators. The program will be in Flagler
Hall, Room 100, at 7:30 P.M. All interested students and educators are welcome.
