During the summer, Dr. Marc Lovelace, Professor of History, served as a Reviewer of
proposals for the National Endowment for the Humanities, providing critical suggestions
for proposals dealing primarily with mythology and Near Eastern cultures, for radio
and television presentation.
On September 21, 1981, Dr. Lovelace spoke to the Political Forum on campus, discussing
issues concerning the contemporary scene in the Middle East.
The items cited above were provided for me at my request, I would appreciate hearing
front other members of the faculty about their summer activities.

Dr. Derek Barkalow collaborated on a research project this summer with Dr. Jacques U.
Baenziger, Dept. of Pathology of the School of Medicine at Washington University in
St. Louis. The project involved study of a phenomenon known as receptor-mediated
endocytosis in liver cells.
A colleague at the Padagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, Germany, would like to arrange
an exchange for his 17-year-old son with someone here in Florida. If any faculty
member would be interested, please contact Jesse L. Berry, Ext. 201 for information.
The German Academic Exchange Service offers a number of study and research possibilities
in Glermany for the summer of 1982. Not all programs require a knowledge of German and
some programs are specifically aimed at prospective participants outside the fields

The Honorary Degrees Committee of the Faculty Senate would like to receive suggestions
for degree recipients. Please send your nominations, together with supporting evidence
